Choreographing Web Environments

Workshop exploring code and dance by Joana Chicau

What happens if we think of algorithms as choreographies and interfaces as stages?

As part of the Feeling Machines Weekender in Spring 2023, Joana Chicau led a beginners workshop exploring web environments through the lenses of choreography. We used the web browser as a performative medium to interact in real-time with online environments and their content, looking into possibilities for visual composition in browsers using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

Together we reflected on the role of ‘algorithmic choreographies’, how they affect us and how we can engage in new forms of critical making.
