Algozine

Algorithmic zine making by Pete Bennett

A table with paper, coloured pencils, and a folded piece of paper which reads 'doodle algozine'

In this hands-on workshop, Pete Bennett invited us to create our own ALGOZINE: a little booklet that helps people to create art from instructions. First, we had a play following the art-recipes in an existing ALGOZINE. Then, we folded our own booklets and filled them with our own instructions. After, we all followed each other’s instructions!

About the artist

Pete Bennett

Pete Bennett is a designer, musician, academic, artist and creative technologist and is always on the lookout for a project that combines all of these at the same time. You’ll find him creating physical games for gorillas, designing interactive beer bottles, collaborating with composers and chemists to sonify the sound of molecular interaction with a string quartet, putting tiny digital instructions in Lego blocks, wandering around the Bristol Museum with a post-truth museum guide, or maybe even exploring the concept of the musical selfie.
