Giant Tactile Robots

Interactive installation by Air Giants

A person embracing a large, glowing, inflatable art installation with a pale green hue.

What’s it like to cuddle a robot? Air Giants‘ Giant Tactile Robots are experiments in tactile interactions with touch-sensing inflatables.

To kick off our Feeling Machines Weekender in March 2023, these Giant Tactile Robots were installed at Lost Horizon HQ, accompanied by the futuristic beats of our Algorave. The Bristol based robotics studio installed different creatures which embodied different kinds of touch-based interactions, inviting Algoravers to come and give them a squeeze!

This work is a prototype for research on robotic interaction funded by MyWorld.
